Senior Electronics Engineer

Malloy Aeronautics is an innovative and rapidly growing company that leads the field in medium class heavy lift unmanned air vehicles for civilian and military applications. This is an excellent chance to join the exciting and fast paced field of unmanned aircraft.

We require a senior electronics engineer with proven experience with analogue and digital circuit design. Applicants must have an enthusiasm for R&D style work as well as design for production. Themes of work will include power systems, embedded devices, integration of sensors and communication systems

Our electronics team is growing fast and at present this position will be responsible for a group of four others; two electronics technicians and two electronic engineers. You will be responsible, alongside the production manager, for organising their time and deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the prototype and production related electronic design
  • Design, assembly and test prototype systems
  • Design of multi-layer PCB’s; schematics and layout

  • Instruct technicians on manufacture and testing procedures
  • Conduct fault finding for electronics and software components
  • Coordinate tasks with the project manager to achieve timely execution of projects

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Good broad electronics knowledge, including high speed digital, analogue, PSUs and embedded system design
  • Hands on experience in building and testing prototype systems
  • PCB design
  • Familiar with STM32 microcontrollers
  • Proficient in C and C++
  • Project management

Desirable

  • Knowledge of flight control systems
  • Piloting model aircraft
  • General interest in aviation

We require an experienced mechatronics engineer with proven experience developing electromechanical hardware for prototype and production systems. You must be a multidisciplinary engineer, ready to solve challenges in a fast-paced environment using skills in electronics, mechanical, control systems and software development. Applicants must have an enthusiasm for R&D style work as well as design for production.

You will be joining our skilled team of engineers, technicians and test pilots. As well as an engineer, we’re looking for a technical leader who can coordinate the efforts of small teams during short-medium term projects. Some project management experience is desirable as you will be required to track the progress and deliverables of projects within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial experience

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • Good broad electronics knowledge, including digital communications, analogue, PSUs, batteries and embedded system design.
  • Experience using a range of mechanical actuators; brushless motors, servos, linear actuators, gearboxes, solenoids etc..
  • Proficient in SolidWorks.
  • Proficient in either C++ or Python
  • Hands-on experience with machine shop equipment.
  • Proficient with 3D printing and other techniques used in rapid prototyping.
  • Working knowledge of control systems (PID control).

Desirable

  • Understanding of machine vision systems and applications.
  • PCB design.
  • Project management experience (maintaining a project plan, budget and reporting to management).

Assembly Technician

You should have previous knowledge and experience with electronics, soldering and mechanical assembly. With the ability to maintain high quality control standards.
